Founded in 1888, the CVMA was the first veterinary association west of the Mississippi River. Its leaders were among
the pioneers of modern veterinary medicine and were instrumental in the establishment of the School of Veterinary Medicine
at the University of California, Davis. Formed in 1995 by the California Veterinary Medical Association, the California Veterinary Medical Foundation is a non-profit, charitable, organization that is devoted to helping the animals in California.

The California Veterinary Medical Association is committed to serving their membership and community through innovative leadership and to improving animal and human health in an ethically and socially responsible manner. The CVMA staff is responsible for the daily operations of the association. It implements CVMA’s vision and mission and acts as a resource
of support and information for its members. As the largest state veterinary medical association in the nation with more
than 5500 members, the California Veterinary Medical Association is pleased to welcome you to its website.
